Ascii Generator dotNET Beta 8.2 released

I’ve fixed an error that slightly blurred and shifted the output up, and has been there FOREVER.
Plus filters are now applied to the edges. The output is better then it has ever been.

I also made a ton of code changes to improve how things are structured.

  1. Hi! I have a problem with this version:

After I loaded the picture I tried to change the size. I ereased the value and I wanted to specify the new size -> program freeze.

Please help. Am I do something wrong? This not happened with the previous version.

  2. If I modify the size by changing the with value -> program freeze
If I modify the size by changing the height value -> program works well

  3. Hi!

    Thanks :)
But it seems this problem is still in the pogram: if I switch off the Lock aspect ratio button and after this I try to change the size, the problem come forward again. :( (Freeze)

    Regards,
    Kristof

  5. I remember converting images (sized medium to large) in December 06/Jan 07,
I took dimensions of the original picture and of the ascii text (print screened and “measured”). The ascii text was about 10% taller – i.e people looked thinner/taller.
Not sure if this has been fixed? (I was most likely using the latest version at the time)

  6. There will always be a bit of a difference because the output width and height needs to be divisible by the character size, but it shouldn’t be off by that much. I’ll run some checks on it when I get a chance.

  7. yup, it was a large image and i selected the number of characters so that it would fill an A4 page. I used a font size of 8 i think. It was definitely 9-11% off, i remember comparing the height:width ratio of the two in pixels.
(COULD HAVE been due to changing font size from 8.5 to 8 in word? (as the generator spat out 8.5 when i entered 8 – cant remember, possibly))

  8. This is so lovely a program. Please do keep it up… Once feature I would like to see is the generation of coloured images – that would make this fantastic!!!

  9. This is a most impressive tool! I would like to thank you for your efforts. Keep up the good work!
